How can we help?

Step-by-step guides for everything in ButtonWrap, on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Getting Started

The main screen, and adding your first picture.

Find your way around ButtonWrapThe main screen: pictures on the left, sheet options on the right.

On iPhone and iPad

  1. Open ButtonWrap. Your pictures appear as cards down the middle of the screen.
  2. The toolbar at the top has the appearance menu, Add pictures, and Print sheet.
  3. On iPhone, tap the sliders icon to open Sheet options — your size, paper, and print settings — as a sheet. On iPad, it's a second column you can always see.

On the Mac

  1. Open ButtonWrap. The window has two columns: your pictures on the left, and Sheet options on the right.
  2. The toolbar has the appearance menu, Add pictures, and Print sheet.
  3. The sidebar on the right is always visible — no need to open anything.

Tips

  • Your sheet at the top of the sidebar tallies how many buttons and pages you're about to print.
  • Nothing prints until you tap Print sheet — adding pictures and changing sizes is all just setup.
Add your first pictureFrom your photo library, or from a file.
  1. Tap or click Add pictures.
  2. Choose Choose from Photos to pick from your library, or Choose from Files to pick a file on your device.
  3. Select one or more pictures. Each one appears as its own card, ready to frame.

Tips

  • You can add as many pictures as you like — each becomes a separate button on the sheet.
  • The first time you add from Photos, iOS will ask permission. ButtonWrap only sees the pictures you pick.

Sizes & Shapes

28 sizes across 7 shapes, and what the numbers mean.

Pick a button size and shapeGrouped by shape, from 7/8 in up to 6 in.
  1. In Sheet options, open the Button picker.
  2. Sizes are grouped by shape: Circle, Square, Rectangle, Oval, Rounded-corner rectangle, Badge, and Octagon.
  3. Pick the size that matches your press. The label shows the size in inches; the picker also shows millimetres.

Tips

  • Most sizes come from Tecre's published layout sheets, or — for the 58 mm circle — from a real press. A note under the picker says so.
  • A size marked derived uses an estimated wrap allowance for that shape family. Print one test piece before a big batch.
Understand printed vs. finished sizeWhy every piece prints wider than the button it becomes.
  1. A button press folds the paper around the rim, so the printed piece has to be wider than the finished button, or a white edge shows on the front.
  2. The dashed inner line on each card marks the finished size — keep the part of the picture that matters inside it.
  3. The cut line on the printed sheet sits just outside the piece, so cutting along it never puts dashes across your picture.

Tips

  • Each card in the app shows both numbers, like “68 → 58 mm” — printed size, then finished size.

Framing Your Picture

Getting the right part of the picture into the button.

Move and zoom a pictureDrag to reposition, pinch or use the slider to zoom.

On iPhone and iPad

  1. Drag anywhere on a picture's card to move it.
  2. Pinch to zoom, or use the − and + buttons under the card.
  3. Double-tap the picture to reset it to centered, no zoom.

On the Mac

  1. Drag anywhere on a picture's card to move it.
  2. Scroll, or use the − and + buttons, to zoom.
  3. Double-click the picture to reset it to centered, no zoom.

Tips

  • Framing is remembered per picture, so switching sizes doesn't undo your work — the same relative framing carries over.
Choose exactly the right partDraw the outline over the part of the picture you want.
  1. On a picture's card, tap or click Choose area.
  2. Drag the outline over the part of the picture you want as the button.
  3. Drag the pink dot to make the outline bigger or smaller, or tap anywhere on the picture to move the outline there.
  4. Close the picker. That crop is now baked in, at the button's own shape and proportions.

Tips

  • The outline always matches the shape you picked — a circle for round buttons, the right proportions for rectangles and badges.
Add more copies of a picturePrint the same button more than once.
  1. On a picture's card, use the − and + stepper next to copy / copies.
  2. Set anywhere from 1 to 24 copies of that picture.
  3. Your sheet at the top of the sidebar updates live, showing the total buttons and pages.

Printing

Paper, cut lines, and printing at exactly the right size.

Turn off the cut linesThe dashed guides are optional, and reset each time you open the app.
  1. In Sheet options, switch off Print dashed cut lines around each piece.
  2. Print sheet as usual — the pieces print without any guide lines.

Tips

  • The toggle starts checked every time you open ButtonWrap. That's on purpose, not a bug — it's easy to forget it was off last time.

On the Mac

What's different about the full-size window.

Work in the Mac windowTwo columns, always visible, with a full menu bar.
  1. The ButtonWrap window always shows two columns: your pictures on the left, Sheet options on the right — no need to open a sheet like on iPhone.
  2. Use the appearance menu in the toolbar to switch Light, Dark, or Auto.
  3. The window has a minimum size, so the two-column layout stays readable even if you resize it smaller.

Troubleshooting

When something doesn't look right.

My printed button came out the wrong sizeAlmost always one setting in the print dialog.
  1. Open the print dialog again and check the scale: it must say 100% or Actual Size, never “Fit to page” or “Shrink to fit”.
  2. Check the paper size in the print dialog matches the paper you picked in ButtonWrap's Sheet options.
  3. Check the paper actually loaded in your printer is that size too.
I can't find “Choose from Photos”, or it shows nothingButtonWrap needs permission to see your photo library.

On iPhone and iPad

  1. Open Settings > ButtonWrap > Photos and make sure access is set to All Photos or Selected Photos.
  2. If you chose Selected Photos, tap Add pictures > Choose from Photos again and pick more.

On the Mac

  1. Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Photos and make sure ButtonWrap is switched on.
My pictures disappeared when I reopened the appThat's expected — pictures aren't saved between launches.
  1. ButtonWrap doesn't save the pictures you add once you close it — add them again next time you want to print.
  2. Your button size, paper, and appearance choices are remembered between launches.

Tips

  • This is deliberate: nothing you add is ever uploaded or stored anywhere, on your device or otherwise, once you close the app.

No guides match that. Try other words, or ask us.
